Nur selten wird ein solches Niveau an instrumentalem Können mit tollen Songs, beseeltem Gesang und hochmoderner Produktion kombiniert, aber Goodman und Baker überzeugen auf der ganzen Linie. Beide Protagonisten können auf eine lange und fruchtbare Assoziation mit Acoustic Music Records zurückblicken. Dave Goodmans letzte CD "Side Of The Road" bekam ausgezeichnete Kritiken und festigte seinen wachsenden Ruf als virtuoser Instrumentalist und hochbegabter Songschreiber. Er schreibt regelmäßig Beiträge für Acoustic Player und arbeitet eng mit Peter Finger bei zahlreichen Workshops und Konzertauftritten zusammen. Steve Baker ist seit Mitte der 90er Jahre bei AMR dabei und veröffentlichte dort vier hochgelobte Alben mit dem 2005 verstorbenen Sänger und Gitarristen Chris Jones, sowie die CD "King Kazoo" mit Dick Bird. Auf "The Wine Dark Sea" werden Goodman und Baker von Martin Röttger am Schlagzeug und Cajon, sowie Oliver Spanuth am Schlagzeug trefflichst unterstützt. Die CD bietet auch Gastauftritte von Big Daddy Wilson, Hanna Lunnon und Kolja Heins. Mit "The Wine Dark Sea" haben Dave Goodman and Steve Baker ein genreübergreifendes Werk geschaffen, das von vorne bis hinten einfach stimmig ist. Tolle Produktion und großartige Songs, instrumental meisterlich inszeniert und gesanglich wie textlich zutiefst überzeugend. Both protagonists have long enjoyed a fruitful association with Acoustic Music Records. Dave Goodman's last solo CD "Side Of The Road” received excellent reviews and cemented his burgeoning reputation as a virtuoso instrumentalist and highly talented songwriter. He is also a regular contributor to Acoustic Player and works closely with Peter Finger on numerous workshops and concert appearances. Steve Baker has been on AMR since the mid 1990s, releasing four highly acclaimed CDs with the late great singer/guitarist Chris Jones as well as "King Kazoo” with Dick Bird. On "The Wine Dark Sea”, Goodman & Baker are brilliantly supported by Martin Röttger on drums and cajon and Oliver Spanuth on drums. The CD also includes guest appearances by Big Daddy Wilson, Hanna Lunnon and Kolja Heins. With "The Wine Dark Sea”, Dave Goodman and Steve Baker have created a work which transcends genre while remaining inherently consistent from beginning to end. Beautiful production and great songs, masterfully orchestrated, vocally and lyrically totally convincing.
