Ulteriori informazioni / contenuti	Das Werk wurde vom Concours International de Cor von Guebwiller (Frankreich) als vorgeschriebenes Stück für die Final-Runde bestellt. Es besteht aus 3 unterbruchslosen Episoden. Eine langsame, expressive Einführung führt in steigendem Crescendo zu einer ersten, kurzen Kadenz fürs Soloinstrument. Darauf folgt ein Andantino, angeregt durch eine synkopierte und treibende Begleitung. Der Übergang zur zweiten Episode wird in der Orchesterfassung den Oboen und Hörnern in Form eines kurzen Moderato-Intermezzos zugeteilt. Die zweite Episode ist eine Elegie, deren intime Atmosphäre durch das Horn zum Ausdruck kommt. Nach einem leidenschaftlicheren Diskurs wird sie in einer verzierten und prägnanten Form wieder aufgenommen. Diese Episode endet in einem ähnlichen Intermezzo wie die erste. Die dritte und letzte Episode beginnt lebhaft und virtuos, untermalt von heftigen Akkorden. Eine Fugenartige Begleitung unterstützt den weiteren Diskurs mit abwechselnd lyrischen und fröhlichen Elementen. Eine grössere Solo-Kadenz leitet eine kurze Coda ein, deren Heftigkeit bis zum letzten Akkord anhält. Das Werk ist dem Schweizer Hornisten Bruno Schneider gewidmet, der dem Komponisten ge-schätzte Ratschläge gab. Commissioned by the Philip Jones International Competition of Guebwiller, France, as set piece for horn in the final round 2001, this work consists of three episodes performed without interruption. A slow and expressive introduction in the form of a long crescendo leads to an initial, short cadenza for the solo instrument. An Andantino follows, enlivened by a syncopated, breathless accompaniment. Entrusted in the orchestral version to paired horns and oboes, a brief Moderato effects the transition from the closing measures of this first episode to the opening measures of the second. The central episode presents an elegiac subject, enounced within an atmosphere of intimacy by the horn. Following a momentary, more passionate peroration, the subject returns in an ornamented, condensed form. And as before, a transition section both closes the second episode and leads to the third. A virtuosic passage for the horn, underpinned by violent chords in the accompaniment, briskly opens the concluding episode. In an alternation of lyrical and joyous elements, the exchange continues, with the support of an accompaniment in perpetuum mobile or fugal style. The work's major cadenza for the solo instrument precedes a brief coda, whose violence relents only upon the final chord's decay. Episodes, op. 95 is dedicated to hornist Bruno Schneider of Switzerland, whose judicious advice the composer greatly appreciated. Une introduction lente et expressive, dans un grand crescendo, conduit à une première et courte cadence pour l'instrument soliste. Suit un Andantino animé par un accompagnement syncopé et haletant. La fin de ce premier épisode est reliée au suivant par un court intermède moderato, confié, dans la version orchestrale, aux deux hautbois et deux cors. Le deuxième épisode se présente sous la forme d'une élégie énoncée dans un climat intime par le cor. Après une péroraison passagère plus passionnée, elle est reprise dans une forme ornée et condensée. Comme précédemment, un intermède similaire achève cette partie centrale. Le troisième et dernier épisode débute de manière vive par un trait virtuose du cor, sous-tendu par de violents accords. Le discours se poursuit en alternant les éléments lyriques et joyeux, soutenus par un accompagnement en forme de perpetuum mobile ou de style fugué. Une importante cadence pour le soliste précède une brève coda dont la violence se maintient jusqu' au dernier accord. L'oeuvre est dédiée au corniste suisse Bruno Schneider dont le compositeur a apprécié les judi- cieux conseils. Gewicht: 0.097
