Written in 1786, it enjoys many of Mozart's more mature trademarks, as well as relying heavily on counterpoint, and offers tremendous opportunity to the soloist. The first movement is majestic and broad in its development; the 'Larghetto' second movement is especially lovely, with a highly ornamented solo part; and the third movement is very free and wildly cheerful.
